Review Summary:

Macintosh Apple from Goose Creek is more than a pure apple scent. It has definite floral and green notes that make it quite complex.

Disclaimer: These are the previous wax melts from Goose Creek. They have since changed their wax formula as well as the shape for their wax melts.

I love apple scents in wax. A lot of my friends don’t, and I’m not sure why. I find apple scents to be quite strong – either mixed or stand alone. And strong I like! Getting Macintosh Apple from Goose Creek Candles was a no brainer to me.

There are a couple of scent descriptions on the website:

The mouthwatering aroma of a crisp Macintosh apple fresh from the orchard.

and

This fruity bouquet creates the mouthwatering aroma of a fresh & crisp Macintosh apple. Top: blends sweet green note with peach & luscious plum Middle: delicious apple bouquet highlighted with cyclamen & lily Base: clean fruity musk.

Cold sniff was dead-on Macintosh apple to me. All red. All apple. All good. It was a moderately strong scent throw. I melted this wax melt in my electric and bulb melters and was very soon met by a tart-yet-sweet red apple scent. There were definite green notes I noticed. This was a complex apple scent, which I think was aided by the floral notes. Trouble is, it didn’t quite agree with me and my migraines. So this one was soon changed out for something else.

The scent throw when melting was moderately strong. Not as strong as many apple scents, but this one definitely held its own. I can’t comment on longevity because I had to dump it out after about an hour.

Do you have any scents that trigger migraines?

Happy candle burning ~

  1. Sorry this apple scent didn’t agree with you! I hate when that happens. The scents that trigger headaches and even tummy aches for me are the sickly sweet fake cherry scents, many serendipity type scents, carmel and maple scents. Not sure why? I like apple scents alot. I find they ad a touch of freshness and brighten a scent. I did try Front Porche’s “Green Sugard Apple” YUCK!! I think the green apple with it’s sour note and the sickly sweet sugared part didn’t agree with me. However, I did like FP “Pink Sugard Apple” it was fresh and sweet but not to much so!

    • Stomach aches, too? That’s not good! I have a hard time with many cherry scents.

    • I hate it when that happens, Bonnie! I’ll just know to steer clear of this scent.
