Holiday Bayberry is one of the returning holiday fragrances at Yankee Candle Company. I recently unearthed one of these gems at my house and decided to give it a go. There was no noticeable difference in appearance from this older wax melt to the ones currently being sold. The label of the scallop melt had a cluster of bayberry decorated with ribbon and small gold ornaments. It was an earthy green color.
Tradition says that lighting a bayberry candle on Christmas Eve (or New Year’s Eve) brings good fortune to your home. This inspired blend of pine, fir, and laurel. . . softened with the clean scent of bayberry, frankincense, and myrrh. . . will certainly bring good fragrance to your home. And perhaps the start of your own new holiday tradition.
The cold sniff was fresh and clean. I melted this one in a bulb melter (with a 40W bulb) in a medium sized room. I began to notice the scent within 10 minutes of plunking it down. It was incredibly fresh and beautiful – soft but with a great scent throw. The pine was not a harsh scent, so even those who don’t like typical “Christmas tree scents” might enjoy this one. This scent tickled my nose for several hours and I even left it going overnight. Very refreshing! I could see this scent as perfect for holiday gatherings when you want something festive but not in-your-face.
This is a scent I would repurchase. I am looking forward to trying it in a candle.
Have you tried Holiday Bayberry from Yankee Candle?
