Review Summary:

A heavy, buttery maple scent that has a fairly strong throw.

The Better Homes & Gardens wax melts can be found in the aisles at WalMart. These are made by the same folks at ScentSationals and you can find some great scents at great bargains. Butterscotch Maple Cream sounded like something that was right up my alley. The clamshell packaging shows a picture of a moist, yellow cake with a caramel colored topping (I’m assuming this is maple butterscotch). There is a fork cutting into one corner of the cake slice. The picture alone is mouthwatering. Then there’s the scent name…yum!

The scent package does not have a scent description, nor is there one to be found elsewhere (not that I could find anyway). The cold sniff smelled like a buttery caramel scent to me. It was a fairly strong cold sniff. I used this melt in both 24W electric melters and bulb melters (with 40W bulbs). The scent throw was fantastic! This was a warm, rich scent that just enveloped the room. It was a heavy, heavy scent – the maple is pronounced and the butterscotch was quite “buttery.” But this blend was fantastic! I would classify this as a strong scent. better-homes-gardens-butterscotch-maple-cream-wax-melts-candles

After melting this scent for a few hours, this melt started to get that slightly “burned caramel” kind of note to me. I would definitely repurchase this scent, but I would use it for shorter intervals (a couple of hours at a time).

Have you tried Butterscotch Maple Cream? What are your thoughts?

Happy candle burning ~

  1. Hi Andrea! I have tried the Maple Butterscotch Cream tart. I have to admit, I am not a huge maple or caramel scent lover. Bit, mixed with the butterscotch it did have a cake like scent to it which I do love. I too found that after a few hours the maple started to smell weird. I probably wouldn’t purchase it again.

    • It was an interesting tart, Carolyn. I think I had a love/hate relationship with it.

  2. This is the best fragrance for my home that I have ever used. Potent, but not overwhelming. Inviting, and pleasant as I go about my activities in the home. I wish it came in votives and pillars as well.

  3. Love at first but then it turns to a burnt smell very quickly.
