Rating Breakdown:

  • Packaging/Presentation: My packaging differed from what I saw on the website. My label had a white bowl full of juicy blackberries and then what looked like a blackberry smoothie, garnished with blackberries. The scent name and the company name were clearly displayed. The scent package description read: Sun-ripened blackberries in creamy vanilla (also different from the website). The wax was a rich, deep purple. 4/5
  • Scent: Pure blackberry bliss. Yum! This was more of a straight fruity scent. I didn’t detect much creaminess from the vanilla. 3.5/5
  • Scent Throw: Moderate scent throw. It was a background note in the contained rooms. I could not really detect it in my large open living space. 2.5/5
  • Longevity: Not that great since the throw was on the mild side to begin with. Lasted a few hours in my melters. 3/5
  • Customer Service (if applicable): N/A
  • Overall rating: 3 (Technically 3.25 but rounding down for scent throw.)

Disclosures: None. I purchased this product myself.

  1. I picked up B&BW’s black raspberry vanilla shower gel during the SAS, but I find myself avoiding it because it’s just a strange tart note that I wasn’t expecting. And like you said about this melt, the vanilla is nowhere to be found!

    • Gil, I really like BRV from B&BW but I certainly have to be in the right “mood” for it. It definitely has a “twang” to it. I think it would be much better with some actual detectable vanilla.

  2. I have to agree with both of you, a zingy blackberry scent, but no detectible vanilla. All in all, not bad, tho!

  3. One of my very favorite scents is a Black Raspberry Vanilla. When I saw this bar I quickly scooped it up. The packaging was a typical Scentsationals package. Nothing super striking or memorable about it. On cold sniff I did smell wonderful Black Raspberry with creamy sweet Vanilla. Yummy! In fact for the first couple hours it was luscious. After that initial melting time it really started to turn gross. Sour is the only way to explain it. Would I buy it again? Probably. For the price point you do get some nice size scent cubes. And at a couple hours max melting time per cube, you do get to enjoy it. So yes I have to admit I would buy it again.
