I remember shopping at Moon’s Harvest back in the day. The products were wonderful but I can certainly tell the business is booming now. The website is a lot more slick and colorful, the product selection is more plentiful, and the scent list? Fabulous! I was happy to reintroduce myself back to this company with a small order of select products. One of those products included a sugar whip sugar scrub scented in It’s Your Birthday? I love the fact that you can specify scent strength – Barely There, Medium, Heavily scented or even Unscented. You can add glitter, too! I chose Heavily Scented (surprise) without glitter.
When I purchased it, I must admit…I didn’t really read the scent description. I assumed it would be a birthday cake blend and all would be good. Imagine my surprise when I opened the lid and felt…tropical! I didn’t smell anything like birthday cake, so off to the scent description I went:
A tropical blend of peaches, strawberries, & pineapple, tart lemons, sweet oranges and hearty coconut with slight floral undertones and a smooth musky vanilla background…
Ahhh…now things totally made sense. I bought the 6 oz container which was a good try-me size. The sugar scrub itself was soft and creamy but with ample amount of sugar. I was able to scoop out the scrub easily and the oils were evident without it being runny or soupy. It felt great on my skin and it did a great job of cleansing and gently scrubbing. This was not a foaming sugar scrub (those are my favorites). It washed off easily and my skin felt very soft after washing it off. The oils still remained and made my skin sooooo soft!
The scent was excellent – it was fruity and candy-like. I got bursts of citrus with no harshness. I never could detect floral undertones or musky vanilla, but this was a fun, fresh scent nonetheless.
This was a wash-off product, so I didn’t expect it to linger long after getting out of the shower. I could still sniff whiffs of it after drying off and for a few hours later in the morning. The main thing was how soft my skin was afterwards. I didn’t have to use lotion, but I did put some on since it is wintertime.
I thought this was a great sugar scrub and one I would purchase again.
