Stash Secrets Sunday: Spotted Hog Candles Mini Haul

I don’t have many reviews for Spotted Hog Candles up on the website, and I plan on rectifying that pretty soon. It’s one of my favoritest places for wax, with consistently great quality and customer service. This particular mini haul of wax brittle is not new-new…I’ve had it a few months, but I wanted to put up a stash photo before my reviews of these scents.

Website: The Spotted Hog Candle Company

Location: New York

Indie? Yes

The Wallet Says: $$$$$

This is the entire order. Nothing but brittle this go ’round. The 1 pound bags of brittle normally sell for $23.50 each, but they are frequently on sale (currently $17.95 each). The 1 pound bags are equivalent to having 16 ounce ounce tarts, so I don’t consider that expensive. The 1/2 pound bags normally sell for $10 each. The scents I got were Icing On The Cake (blue), Honeydew Lemonade (green), Strawberry Lemonade (pink), Caramel Cookies (light brown), and Cyanide Souffle (dark brown/green).

Icing On The Cake – I don’t see a scent description for this one. It smells wonderful on cold sniff! I smell more yellow cake than I was anticipating on this one. I also smell a creamy, sweet buttercream frosting. Yummo! This scent is on the lighter side.

Honeydew Lemonade (A delicate mixture of freshly squeezed lemonade and ripe honeydew melons. A beautiful fresh and sweet aroma) – This is one of my favorite scents from SH. It’s is sweet and syrupy with just enough tanginess to keep it from being too sickening sweet. Moderately strong cold sniff.

Another favorite is Strawberry Lemonade (SWEET AND TART! This original blend of ours makes the best strawberry lemonade you will find out there). This one has a bit more tang than Honeydew Lemonade. It’s stronger, too. I have a hard time with strawberry scents in wax, but not so with this one. It’s a sweet strawberry and actually does smell like a fresh glass of strawberry lemonade. Oh yeah!

Cyanide Souffle (Should you dare to eat a slice will make you happy but think twice. In one bit you’ll soon realize-that it’s not almonds you taste my dear it’s Cyanide. Happy Halloween:) ~Yellow cake batter, Cinnamon sugar and Almonds) simply begged me to buy it because of the name. How cute! I smell a cherry almond scent on first whiff, followed by the yellow cake. Smells good and it’s strong.

Last up is Caramel Cookies (Vanilla sugar cookie with caramel and toffee chips dusted with powdered sugar). This one sounded right up my alley, and I’m hoping it turns out to be that way. This one is more cookie than caramel on cold sniff, so not quite what I was expecting. Still, it does smell good. It’s on the lighter side. I’ll have to see what my final thoughts are once melting.

Order Wrap Up (based on initial thoughts alone)
