Scent Mixology Zone: Apple Crumble + Tiki Beach

I was inspired by my buddy Gil over at Nosegasm to start using up some of my seemingly endless supply of Bath & Body Works candles. This week I burned two candles in one room to see what unique scent I just might come up create (while whittling down my candle stash at the same time!). A little scent mixology, if you will. This scent mixer was Apple Crumble and Tiki Beach, both from Bath & Body Works.

I had already burned these candles separately and knew I really liked them. What would happen when I combined the two? I wanted the tart/cinnamon-y apple crumble scent to blend nicely with the tropical coconut scent.

Apple Crumble: Baked Granny Smith and McIntosh Apples topped with vanilla crumble, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Tiki Beach: A tropical island blend of toasted coconut, vanilla musk, and purple orchids infused with sugared berries.

So what would happen? Would Tiki Beach predominate with its tropical coconut flair?

I find apple scents usually to be quite strong. So would Apple Crumble take over the scene?

This was a decent combination but not really what I was shooting for. The Apple Crumble definitely predominated and the coconut scent was simply no match. Tiki Beach has somewhat of a suntan lotion vibe to it, too, and I think I wanted a sweeter coconut with the apple scent.  So while an OK combination, not something I would recreate.

  1. Thanks for the mention! I like this ‘Battle of the Candles’ idea – what other combinations have you tried? 🙂

    • Ah, but of course! As far as candles are concerned, so far it’s just this combo and then an apple/pomegranate combo (that one was much better!). I do more mixing with my wax melts and then – nothing is off limits, LOL. Coconut and caramel mix well with a lot of scents, as does marshmallow. Fun stuff!
