I’m drowning in sample packets and vials…you know, the ones you get with placing an order here or there (or in my case, everywhere). I love getting samples, but I have a tendency to let them stockpile. I have to work my way through them and what better way than to take you along with me on the journey.
This week I’ve been sampling Diptyque’s Baume Genereux (Luxurious Hand Balm), from a previous Diptyque order. The sample packet was quite generous at 0.17 ounces – plenty for a trial run because a little went a long way. I wash my hands 50 bajillion times a day (on average) and I have to use hard soaps and alcohol based products. My hands get super dry, so I am always on the lookout for a moisturizing hand creme.
This balm was fairly thick but easy to dispense from the packet. No runniness – it stayed put where I put it. The dollop you see on my (very dry) hand below was actually too much – it went on just a little greasy, but quickly absorbed right into my skin. After about 15 minutes or so, I couldn’t feel any slickness but my hands stayed very soft and silky, even after a couple of light washings. The scent was fabulous! Soft and subtle but very pretty – I didn’t smell any fruity apricot, but it was a warm slightly sweet vanilla scent that lingered throughout the day. Some light floral notes, too, but nothing perfumey. I got a burst of scent when first putting it on, then it mellowed quickly.
The full sized product is 1.7 ounces and currently sells for $38. That’s a hefty price but I will say that I didn’t have to use much of this at all, so a little goes a long way. I would imagine the jar would last a long time. I would put it on at night to heal my hands after a day’s worth of abuse.
Loved this sample and I will make a purchased based off my experience. Do you have a favorite hand balm?
Happy candle burning ~
