I’m not sure about you, but I have a mini arsenal of Yankee Candles scattered about my home. Since I tend to buy en masse, I often forget about when I purchased what candles. I recently ran across a YouTube video (thanks Az4angela!) that explained how to tell the age of my Yankee Candle jars.
I pulled out 3 candles I wanted to know about – Bahama Breeze (medium classic jar), Oceanside (large tumbler), and Shortbread Cookie (large classic jar).
I turned the jars over to look at the labels. The important numbers for this exercise are the digits that run perpendicular to the bar code numbers. For example, Bahama Breeze is a candle that I purchased just a few months ago. When I turned it over, the code I saw was 14544861 (see the small print on the side). This candle was poured this year, 2014.
Next I looked at Oceanside. The code I found there was 13469795. This candle jar was poured last year, 2013. Sounds about right!
What about Shortbread Cookie? This was an older scent that was brought back for a limited time and I purchased it a long, long time ago. The digits I see on the side of this jar are 71343. Does this mean that this candle was poured in 2007? It would make sense, as this particular scent was introduced in Fall 2007.
See…easy peasy! How old is the oldest YC jar that you have?
Happy candle burning ~
