Happy Diwali to all who celebrate it.

Diwali is a five day Hindu festival of light.  It  signifies an awareness of the inner light.   Where there is light, there are also candles and more specifically oil lamps…many, many oil lamps.  The word Diwali translates into “row of lamps” which are lit and lined up to signify the triumph of good over evil.  Check out these beautiful photos of last year’s festivities and imagine the wonder of color and light at this huge, week long celebration in India.  Check it out right here.

  2. That is a stunning picture. That is so cool that the girl in the picture is using the candles to form the shape of the prosperity god.

    • You’ve got a good eye, Bonnie. The Goddess Lakshmi symbolizes wealth and prosperity and appears to be a big part of the Diwali celebration.

  3. Glassybaby would be awesome for celebrating Diwali! It reminds me of how stringing up lights is part of celebrating Christmas and other winter holidays. So beautiful.
