Review Summary:

A festive Halloween candle with a mix of buttercream and candy corn. Unfortunately, the scent throw is lacking on this candle.

Trick or Treat is one of the limited edition candles that Yankee Candle Company breaks out in the Fall and for Halloween season. It is part of their Swirl Line, in which two scents are swirled about in one candle. For Trick or Treat, the scents are Buttercream and Candy Corn. Yum!

The jar candle is only available as a medium sized jar (12.5oz) and the swirls are orange and white. This year’s jar had a clear label with black silhouettes on it depicting a haunting Halloween scene. This was a single wick jar, typical apothecary style. yankee-candle-trick-or-treat

The cold sniff on this was so promising! It smelled of sweet, sugary candy corn with hints of buttercream frosting. It was enough to make me swoon! I lit this candle first in a small bathroom – no luck. Then I decided to move it to other rooms of various sizes – no luck. When this candle burned, I couldn’t smell the sweet frosted candy corn scent unless I stuck my nose down in the jar. Another incredible disappointment!

A magical swirl of Buttercream and Candy Corn fragrances

I usually buy large YC jars for my home, so I’m not sure if I would have had better luck with a larger sized candle. Unfortunately, that was not an option with this scent. The candle burn was perfect – I got a full wax melt pool after a couple of hours and there was no wasted wax. The flame was a bit difficult to tame as I burned deeper down into the jar but nothing too bad. Although adorable, this candle will not be a repurchase for me.

Have you tried any candles from the Swirl Candle Line? What are your thoughts?

  2. What good is a scented candle if it doesn’t fragrant the room? I encourage you to check out this new candle company based in Washington, D.C. Love Lucy Candles are handmade luxury candles that have a good cold throw and a great hot throw. Their scents are unique and really nice. I love Day Spa and Something Spicy, from their new Holiday Collection.
