I’ve fallen back in love with the 3-wick candles from Bath & Body Works. I always thought they had great scents but the throws and burns left something to be desired. They have revamped their product and I am sold…hook, line and sinker. So when I saw Pumpkin Pecan Waffles offered in the Fall 2013 lineup, I knew I had to have it. Just the candle name made my mouth water. Then I read the scent description:
Delight in the scrumptious scent of pumpkin pecan waffles, pure maple syrup and a touch of brown sugar.
This three wick candle has an off-white color to the wax. The cold sniff was very strong and smelled just like freshly made waffles to me. I didn’t smell the syrup or the pumpkin for that matter. Still, it is a delicious cold scent and the candle smelled great just sitting there with the lid off.
Once burning, the throw was INCREDIBLE! This is one powerful candle. It scented up the room it was in and all through the front rooms of my house. Heavenly! I smelled the waffle batter scent with hints of maple syrup, but not too much. The pumpkin? Not sure I smelled any pumpkin in there. Or at least it was overwhelmed by the waffle cone-ish scent. I have read reviews where this candle scent is described as sweet, but I wouldn’t call it a sweet scent. It’s a bakery scent, for sure, but it was heavy and warm at the same time. I think of Summer Boardwalk as sweet, but not this one.
Besides the lack of pumpkin notes, I did have one other problem with this candle: after it burned for about 3 hours straight, it started to smell like the waffles were burning. Maybe it was the pecans I was noticing more at that point. In any case, I could only burn this candle for 2-3 hours at a time before I had to shut it down for a re-light later. The candle burned evenly with a full, deep wax melt pool and with no drowning wicks!
I do think this is a candle scent I would repurchase, but I’ll probably do a scent mixology to keep from noticing that burned smell at the end.
Have you tried Pumpkin Pecan Waffles? What are your thoughts?
Happy candle burning ~
