Review Summary:

A lightly scented candle with a fresh, clean scent. The performance was far from satisfactory.

Rating Breakdown:

  • Packaging/Presentation: The candle came in a heavy stock black cardboard box with a silver lid on top. There was a large white label on the front that clearly displayed the company name and scent name. The coloring of the font matched the color of the wax (blue). The candle jar inside was a heavy glass jar with a thick bottom. The glass was clear. There was a bit of wax residue around the rim of the jar. The wick was cut short but well-centered. This candle would make gifting easy, but I would have needed to clean up the rim of the jar first. 3.5/5
  • Scent: This scent was very clean and fresh, slightly perfumey. It smelled a lot like a laundry detergent but no soapy elements. It was a little more perfumey than I would have liked, though. 3/5
  • Scent Throw: The scent throw was very light on this candle. It did fairly well in my smallest room – I could tell it was burning and it softly scented the room. It became even more of a background note in the middle-sized room and then I could not smell it unless right over it in the 12’x12′ room. 2/5
  • Performance: This candle started off with a tunnel and kept one throughout, no matter what I tried. I did try heating the edges of the tunnel, scooping out wax (repeatedly), turning the candle (repeatedly), and pouring out wax (repeatedly). I wasted a lot of the wax of this candle trying to get it to burn properly. It never did. On the bright side, it was a very clean burn – I did not notice any black sooting and the flame stayed manageable throughout. I only got about 35 hours worth of burn out of this candle, but that’s because I wasted a lot of wax. It was a slow burning candle. 1/5
  • Customer Service (if applicable): I had great CS with this order – fast shipping, everything arrived in great shape. 5/5
  • Overall rating: 2.5 (Technically 2.9 but rounding down for performance.)

Disclosures: None. I purchased this product myself.

  1. Hello Candlefind and Andrea. Thank you for the review of Welcome Home’s Fresh Linen Candle. As the owner of a small business, feedback, whether it be directly to the company or indirectly such as reading about it in a review, is important to me. To explain a bit about what you experienced, the candles are designed to pick up the sides as they burn down. What appears to be tunneling at the top dissipates as the candle burns down. I design the candle like this for a number of reasons…1) Unfortunately most people don’t trim the wick. 2) Most people burn for longer than the 4 hour recommended time. First two being for safety reasons and the third being that a smaller wick also cuts down on soot. I appreciate the opportunity to explain this. I stand by the product and would be happy to send a replacement. Please feel free to e-mail me on the company website. Kindest regards, Cheryl Wood Owner Welcome Home Candles. 2. I am HUGE lover of launder type scents. I am not a very big fan of Soy candles persay. I can’t help it, but in my opinion Soy wax just doesn’t have the scent throw of other types of wax blends. I did like the packaging and color of this candle.
