Cranberry Sauce was part of the 2013 Thanksgiving Collection from The Yankee Candle Company. I’ve already reviewed Turkey & Stuffing here on Candle Scoop. Today’s focus is on the complimenting scent, Cranberry Sauce.
I purchased the large apothecary jar style in this scent. It featured a roll of cranberry sauce on the label with a couple of slices all ready to go. The wax was a burgundy red color, which was perfect for the scent of cranberry sauce. As is typical for these jars, there was a single wick. The cold sniff was mild but pleasant…it smelled just like the whiff you’d get if opening up a can of cranberry sauce. Incredibly realistic!
I started this candle in a medium-sized room and came back to check on it a couple of hours later. This candle had not quite yet reached a full wax melt pool, but it was obviously on its way. The scent? Ahhhhh! Very nice! It was the perfect mix of sweet and tangy, which made it a great cranberry scent. I only wish the scent throw was stronger. It was definitely stronger than Turkey & Stuffing, but still – it was a moderate scent throw. I could detect it was burning in the room by the whiffs I would get in the air. Very nice!
It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without the classic, tangy sweet goodness of jellied cranberry sauce.
This was a very slow burning candle but it burned perfectly. There was no wasted wax whatsoever. I did use an Illuma-Lid for this candle just because I think it helped tame the flame a bit. This is a scent I would repurchase next year if it was offered, but I think I might choose a tart instead.
