Red Flower is a company in New York that creates beautifully crafted candles, designed to fill your home with the scent of fresh flowers. The company was founded by Yael Alkalay in 1998 after suffering from a stroke in her 20s. Yael’s story is fascinating and worth a read on the Red Flower website. Her Red Flower candles made an exclusive debut in Barney’s New York in 1999, with its own store following in 2001.
red flower is about seeking origins and finding answers. all of our products are created around cultural body-care rituals from around the world. from the onsens of japan to the hammams of turkey, we tell the story of a destination through scent and by capturing the spiritual potential of native plants and extracts. red flower offers an ever-evolving line of flower body washes, lotions, shampoo and conditioners that are entirely botanically based, 100 percent vegetarian and paraben-free, available in 13 flower scents. we also create organic perfumes, bath salts, teas, oils and balms. ~ Red Flower
Red Flower candles are made from natural cosmetic grade vegetable wax and a hint of soy wax. The wicks are 100% cotton. The candles come in striking colors and two different sizes: a 1.5 oz candle with a 15 hour burn time and a 6 oz candle with a 50 hour burn time. They also carry a limited selection of large soy candles with a 108 hour burn time. Each candle is topped with scented flower petals appropriate for the scent. They recommend putting the flowers in a bowl to enjoy a subtle scent. They very conveniently sell prayer bowls that you can use to do just that. Or you can use the flower petals in a sachet or running bath – or anywhere you’d like to add a little scent. Some of the scent choices include Icelandic Moonflower, Cherry Blossom, French Lavender, and Moroccan Rose.
Red Flower is a very earth-friendly company: all of their candles are packaged at a 100% wind-powered factory. The paper used for the candles is made from 77% post consumer recycled paper. In addition to candles, you will find scented oil diffusers, perfumes, hand washes, and scented bath/body products.
