Box Opening: Sensibly Posh, Second Order

I was so pleased with my first-time order from Sensibly Posh that I couldn’t resist when she offered up a quick sale. One thing I noticed when I returned to the Etsy shop was that scent descriptions are now added – yay! Once again I was able to shop without any hiccups and everything arrived in perfect fashion. Suh-weet!

Date ordered: October 2

Date received: October 11

Coconut Lime Verbena: Coconut Lime Verbena fragrance oil is a beautiful lime accord sat upon a gentle base of coconut and tart citrus notes. Wispy hints of lemon verbena tie it all together. Does not have a suntan-lotion note to be found! (Farmers Market Favorite) A pretty green wax melt with white wax shavings. I smell mostly a sharp, tart lime. This is a refreshing scent with a great cold throw.

Bora Bora: sweet pineapple, acai berry, mango zest, tart passion fruit, yuzu zest, green apple, orchid leaves, and musky nuances. (Farmers Market Favorite) A lovely pink wax with deep blue swirls. Oh my gosh this is good. Very citrusy and sweet – mostly juicy pineapple but lots of other fruity notes mixed in. Strong cold throw.

sensibly-posh-apple-harvest-christmas-garland-wax-melts-candlesApple Harvest Festival: Notes of sweet slow-cooked spiced apples with mulled berries and citrus rind provide a bright top note leading to a warm blend of star anise, cinnamon sticks, and clove for middle notes, and a succulent caramelized brown sugar rounding out the base.  This is a deep red wax with a cute green wax apple in the center. Mmmm – an apple scent with tons of spice. I’m able to pick out the clove here and the sharp anise. I love this one. It has a moderate cold throw.

Christmas Garland: fruity, spicy holiday blend fusing bayberry, chestnuts and blood orange with spicy notes of cinnamon stick, nutmeg and clove finishing with just a whispering base undertone of fir. A deep red with red dots and some glitter. This smells a lot like the Holiday Wassail scent I used to order from Cozy Cottage Scents. It is fruity and spicy at the same time. Great cold throw.

Cinnamon Baklava: Notes of freshly grated cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove followed by notes of a nutty, flaky crust, caramelized sugar, buttery vanilla, and sweet honey.(Farmers market Favorite)(MY FAVORITE) A deep brown wax with dark brown flakes. This one smells soooo good! It smells like a warm coffee cake to me. Great cold throw.

Sweet Potato & Brown Sugar: Sweet Potato & Brown sugar fragrance oil features notes of mashed sweet potato, creamy milk, squash puree, brown sugar, freshly ground nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, vanilla extract, melted butter, rum, and a hint of maple sugar.(Farmers Market Favorite) (MY FAVORITE) This was a freebie clam that Stephanie was kind enough to throw in. I am floored by how good this smells on cold sniff! It has a super strong brown sugar scent with maple and sweet potato easily detectable. It smells like the filling of a sweet potato pie. My favorite of the bunch!

Baker’s Pie Spices: blend of warm spices, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. (MY FAVORITE)(Farmers Market Favorite) An off white wax with spices sprinkled on top. This one is just ok to me – it’s a cinnamon-nutmeg mix. Moderate cold throw.

Funnel Cake: A sweet, warm funnel cake with top notes of buttery cream, milky caramelized sugar, and powdery sweet confectioner’s sugar topping a sweet bread pastry. (Farmers Market Favorite) (MY FAVORITE) A light brown wax with darker brown swirlies. Buttery does not begin to describe this one…mmmm! This is so sweet and rich, it’s sinful. I can’t wait to melt this one! Great cold throw.

sensibly-posh-clean-laundry-autumn-mums-wax-melts-candlesFresh Laundry (label says Clean Laundry): This oil is a fresh linen and clean cotton type that will leave you smiling. This scent has the beautiful aroma of fresh clothes just pulled from a sun drenched drying line. (Farmers Market Favorite) A sea blue wax with lighter blue “drops.” This is such a clean and fresh scent. It smells a lot like laundry detergent but not harsh at all. Love it! It has a strong cold throw.

Autumn Mums: features a sparking top note, a floral heart combining neroli, rose, carnation and marigold, with a base note of twigs and earth.  A forest green wax with a deep blue floral design and glitter on top. This is a beautiful floral mix. It smells like I have my nose pressed right up into a carnation! Incredibly realistic scent throw, moderately strong.

Creme Brulee: The classic rich, creamy dessert with a caramelized sugar topping. A light brown wax with dark brown “spots.” This is a sweet creme brulee scent, somewhat buttery. Moderate cold throw.

Berry Orange Scone (label says Cranberry Orange Scone): English sweet scone with notes of orange citrus, sweet cranberry and fresh lemon enhanced by nuances of coconut milk, freshly baked pastry, warm melted butter, and vanilla drizzle. (Farmers Market Favorite) An orange wax with deep orange “spots.” This smells somewhat of orange candy to me. On cold sniff, I am not getting all the different notes. I’m hoping I like this better once melted.

I also repurchased Lemon Berry Bundt Cake. I’m very pleased with this second order and I think I’ve found a new vendor that I’ll frequent!

  2. I am so glad you posted some pictures of Sensibly Posh’s beautiful tarts! After seeing some discussion over on Candle Find’s forum about this vendor, I placed an order for some winter scents during a recent special they were running. I got Autumn Mums, Frosty Windowpane (which was decorated with a windowpane shape – so cute!), Mulberry Frost, Ocean Mist (had to throw in at least one *beachy* scent), Pinecone Wreath, Winter Hideaway, Falling Leaves, Alpine Frost and Frosty Pines. As an extra, she threw in a clam of Christmas Garland, which was decorated in little dots resembling a real garland. The cold sniff of these are amazing, although I will be holding on to them for a little extra “cure time”, as they seem like soft wax, I’m thinking soy. They will be fully ready in time for the holidays and I am really looking forward to melting these gems!

    • I’m going to review some of her melts fairly soon. I am letting most of my order cure, as well. Glad to know you gave her a try!
