Box Opening: Scents By The Bay, Coo Candles

Scents by The Bay was having a sale recently and that in itself was enough of an excuse for me to place an order. I was drawn to one of their new products, Coo Candles.

While the description sounded like clamshell melts, I couldn’t quite tell from the picture. So the only Andrea-logical thing to do was to place an order and find out just exactly what these Coo Candles were all about.

Date Ordered: August 21

Date Received: August 31

I had no problems with receipt of the order. I’m not crazy about packing peanuts, but everything inside was well cushioned and nothing was damaged.

A brochure was included that gave further info about the company and products available.

Once inside I discovered that Coo Candles were…drumroll please…clamshells! My head knew these would be clamshells. But with a name like Coo Candles, my heart was hopeful for something, well…a bit more cuddly.

Scents were only available as packs of three. Black Cherry, Lemon Pucker and Cucumber Melon were grouped together. Clean Linen, Purely Herbal, and Juniper Breeze were also grouped as a set.

The colors were very vivid and these were very full, nice clamshells.

All clamshells had this "sweaty" or oily type of layer to them.

My cold sniff thoughts (no scent descriptions are available):

Black Cherry: Pretty strong cold sniff, fairly authentic. It is not too harsh on cold sniff.

Clean Linen: Clean and fresh. It has a detergent-y background note. The cold throw on this one is lighter but still good.

Lemon Pucker: Very tart and lemony. It does not smell harsh like a cleaner. Great cold throw.

Purely Herbal: Ahhhh, this is nice. Very fresh and green. This smells like it would be a great spa scent. It has a little bit of sweetness to it. Lighter cold throw but perfect for this scent.

Juniper Breeze: Another sweet, green kind of scent with a hint of muskiness. I think this one has a stronger cold throw than Purely Herbal but lighter than Black Cherry.

Cucumber Melon: Love this one! Very fresh and the sweetness of the melon is incredible – so juicy! It has a great cold throw.

I also bought a bar of soap since I found something that caught my eye. Scents By The Bay carries San Francisco Soap Company soaps (LOVE!) and they were only 2 bucks a piece. I ordered Sugared Citrus. It…smells…fabulous!

Overall a very nice order. I don’t like having to order my clamshell scents in “packs,” but perhaps this is just because the product is so new for this company. In any case, stay tuned to Candle Scoop for future reviews on these!
