I have heard good things about Pics, Petals & Scents so I thought it was high time I place an order myself. Luckily, Marcy had a Fall sampler available which I thought would be a great way to sample several scents at once. I had no clue just how many there would be, though!
Date ordered: September 8
Date received: September 12
Opening the box was a joy from the very beginning. I opened the box to be greeted by a thank-you note, a sample wax melt (shaped as a Thank-you card, scented in Homecoming) and a wooden rose. Everything was packaged so neatly. Further inside the box, the Fall Sampler was in two separate cello bags and then there was a generous Thank-you bag, too! What a great selection of melts!
The scents that were included in the sampler were:
Toasted By The Fire – A woodsy, earthy aroma with balsam, fir and pine, toasted marshmallow & fresh berries. Mmmm, this is nice and cozy. Smells like a bonfire. Great cold throw. This is a house blend.
Apple Cider Bread – (No scent description available.) This is a spicy apple scent. I don’t detect any bread notes on cold sniff. Moderate cold throw.
Mountain Leaves – (No scent description available) This has a strong cold throw. It is fresh and grassy, slight perfume-like notes but all in a good way. I’m loving this one.
Kickin’ Caramel Apple – (No scent description available) Mmmmm, this one is good. Heavier on the apple than the caramel, but a great mix. Good cold throw.
Three Milk Cake – farm fresh milk scaled to culinary perfection, and rich cream cheese icing. A deep comforting milky scent that is not too sweet. This is my favorite of this group. It’s sweet and creamy with some buttery notes. Delicious! Moderate scent throw.
Apples & Oak – (No scent description available) This one is heavy on the apple up front, then the oak comes into play at the end of the sniff. I like it! Moderate throw.
Pumpkin Marshmallow – (No scent description available) This is delicious. It is more of a spicy pumpkin with hints of sweetness. Moderate scent throw.
Pineapple & Brown Sugar – (No scent description available) I was surprised that this cold scent throw was so light. It smells faintly of sweet pineapple and then there is a slight caramel-ly kind of note to it. This one is just ok.
Pumpkin Cheesecake – (No scent description available) I don’t typically care for cheesecake scents and this was no exception. It was strong and spicy with a heavy pumpkin scent. Just not for me on cold sniff.
Pumpkin Crunch Cake – The aroma of creamy pumpkin pie filling with rich eagle brand milk; surrounded with freshly baked yellow cake, melted butter, pecans, and hints of spice. This pumpkin scent was actually a little sweeter than I expected. Not sticky sweet, just a little more sweet than spicy. I get the pumpkin but not the cake notes on cold sniff.
Pumpkin Bread – This one is fresh baked and right out of the oven. Makes your mouth water while it fills your home with the scent of fresh baked Pumpkin Bread. This one is similar to Pumpkin Crunch Cake but the spices are more noticeable here. Nice.
Spicy Peaches & Apples – (No scent description available) The juicy peach smell is there and delicious. But this is definitely a spice scent. Pretty good cold throw.
Orange Danish Butter Cookies – (N0 scent description available) This is another winner. It has that orange dreamsicle kind of scent to it with some buttery goodness. I don’t smell any cookie notes on cold sniff.
Blackberry Jam Biscuits – (No scent description available) This is straight up fruity to me. A sweet blackberry scent without any bread or smell of biscuits. I’m disappointed in this cold sniff but maybe the biscuit notes will be noticeable once melting.
Buttery Vanilla Fresh Baked Bread – (No scent description available) I love this one. It is buttery and yeasty. It reminds me of a croissant.
More goodies included:
Mulled Cider – Perfect blend of apple cider, vanilla, and cinnamon. A warm and flowing aroma! This is spot on for mulled cider. It’s wonderful! Just the right amount of apple, sweet and spice. Strong cold throw.
Vanilla Sugar Shortbread Cookie – (No scent description available) I couldn’t stop sniffing this one. It is sweet and a little creamy. I could definitely pick out the cookie notes in this one on cold sniff. Moderate cold throw.
Mulberry Apple Zucchini Bread – I see a scent description for Mulberry Zucchini Bread, but not Mulberry Apple ZB. In any case, this one is sweet and delicious. Very yummy. The apple is sweet and the mulberry is sort of tart. I don’t smell any bread notes, though. Strong cold throw.
Wild In The Country – a blend of spices, apples & oranges. This one smells almost cider-y. I like it. Very similar to Mulled Cider with a twang of citrus. Great cold throw.
Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple Syrup – (No scent description available) This one is somewhat yeasty but the scent of maple is quite strong. Good one.
Sugar Cinnamon Donut – (No scent description available) This one is nothing special on cold sniff. I don’t detect much other than a whiff of cinnamon.
Also in the sampler…
Caramel Apple Zucchini Bread – (No scent description available) Mmmmm, delicious! This smells just like a sweet, caramel coated apple with the addition of some spicy zucchini bread. The caramel apple is the most prominent. Strong cold throw.
Pumpkin Cornbread – (No scent description available) Eh. I’m not crazy about this one. I smell some straight up pumpkin and a few spices. There is a weird after note to me on this one.
Kettle Corn – (No scent description available) Another winner! Sweet, salty and buttery all at the same time! This one is mouthwatering good and has a moderate cold scent throw.
I’m so thrilled with all that was included in the sampler. Ah-mazing. It certainly felt like I got my money’s worth. There was also a freebie Thank-you bag that included even more melts…
Homecoming – Toasted graham crackers, vanilla frosting, creamy caramel, and juicy raisins. I wish I smelled all those notes on cold sniff! All I smelled was spice on this one.
Spicey Peaches & Apples (as above)
Jammin’ Sugar Cookie – Cherry, raspberry, & strawberry jam with sugar cookie. This smelled very similar to Blackberry Jam Butter Cookie to me. It is delicious and has a great cold throw.
I’m excited and can’t wait to get to melting! Be sure to stay tuned for reviews. Or read the Candlefind Review Board reviews today.
