Blast From The Past: Everyday Whims

Our Blast From The Past feature is a group of reviews for candles and/or melts made by companies who are sadly no longer in business. We present these reviews to you because you just might be able to score some of these products in a swap or you might see them surface on places like eBay. This will also help aid in the query of whether wax melts or candles lose their scent over time. If any of these particular businesses have re-opened, please let us know!

I loved the company Everyday Whims and was truly sad when Riss decided to close. She made some stellar products and had great customer service. I’ve been trying to downsize my stash and imagine my joy when I ran across some EW gems! These melts were at least 5 years old. The typical wax melt was shaped like a heart and bagged individually. They weighed 0.8 ounces each. Although they were a bit battle scarred, I was still able to enjoy these goodies.

Lilac Blossoms

This wax melt was a beautiful light purple and had the most relaxing aroma. It melted well on a 24W electric warmer and the scent was fantastic! It was a soothing, pretty lilac scent that was not too floral or heady. I didn’t smell anything other than lilac in this one. It was like sticking my nose into a lilac bush. The scent filled an average sized room without any difficulty and lasted for several days (a few hours at a time every day).

Birthday Cake

This wax melt was off white in color. I used it in a small room with an electric warmer (24W). This melt smelled like sweet, sweet frosting on top of a birthday cake. So more frosting, less cake in this one. It was a moderately strong throw that lasted a several hours the first day. It did not have much scent the next day when rewarming.

Caramel Apple

This wax melt was a caramel brown color and had a great scent throw – cold and hot! I used it in a small room with a bulb melter (40W) and it gave off a wonderful caramelly-apple scent. The caramel notes were more prominent with apple being secondary, but it was still delicious. This melt lasted and lasted and lasted before I finally dumped it out.

Honeysuckle Jasmine

This was probably my favorite of the bunch. I love the scent of honeysuckle and this was an authentic scent. It was strong enough to be enjoyable, but not overly strong to be that head-inducing floral. I never could pick out any jasmine in this scent – just a pretty honeysuckle. I used it in a small room with an electric melter (24W). This one lasted for days.

Did you shop Everyday Whims?

Happy candle burning ~

  1. What cute little tarts! I’ve never heard of Everyday Whims before. Then again I started getting into melts about 2 1/2 years ago. I am a huge fan of honeysuckle and jasmine and lilac scents. In fact, after the holiday season that is my staple around my home, floral and laundry scents. I’m glad you decided to use up these gems!!

  2. I love this!! I am the past owner of Everyday Whims. I had to close shop due to some very big life changes that have kind of left me in a state of limbo all these years… but I do still play with wax! 🙂 I was contemplating rebuilding and opening again, even if I just started off slowly with say 10-20 fragrances to start with and then slowly adding to it. I built Everyday Whims from nothing, lol, a hobby that grew out of hand. Thank you for mentioning it here. Wasn’t that Candy Apple insane?! Another that lasted well that really surprised me after 5yrs was Citrus Linen H20… it is my personal fav. Again, thank you for the mention and I will let you know if I do rebuild… I am sure that if I do, I will try to retain the same name. xo Riss
